Sofa. So Good.

Couchsurfing. Everything raised an eyebrow when James and I explained that we were hoping to stay with random people over the course of our trip. We had no idea what to expect, but on paper it sure fit the budget! Clearly we have our finger on the pulse of travel because on one of our first days in London there was a full page spread about how to travel on a budget, specifically highlighting couchsurfing!

We are happy to say as we leave Madrid, we are wrapping up our first couchsurfing experience and so far so good. Our paths didn’t cross much with our host Santi, mostly due to his work schedule which was the night shift. Via emails, we had confirmed our stay and ETA with him and he was waiting with a set of keys when we arrived. His place was easy to find and super clean and comfortable. Much as we look forward to socializing more with our hosts in other countries, it was nice to have some to ourselves after being surrounded by family and friends in London. Odd to think that we were looking forward to time alone since we are travelling the globe together, but it was nice to be on our own schedule and not someone else’s.

Tazmania named as hottest backpacker destination by Lonely Planet.   The Bay of Fire is on our itinerary for December.  We’ll see y’all there.
