Tazmania named as hottest backpacker destination by Lonely Planet.   The Bay of Fire is on our itinerary for December.  We’ll see y’all there.

I’m thinking that these are my people.   You know how some people grow up and later ‘discover’ that they’re really a man trapped in a woman’s body? I think I might be Spanish.

In search for some famous quotes from Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida to include in this blog post, I must admit, Google came up a bit empty handed. It’s not Google’s fault, more that this play isn’t one of Shakespeare’s more famous ones. To the ears of anyone who isn’t a Shakespeare-o-phile,  there aren’t any notable quotes that have impacted the literary scene; nothing that would really ring a bell with anyone who hasn’t seen the play….(or perhaps even with those who have!)

I tend to think that anything Shakespeare penned has it’s place in history….or at least warranted a Cliff Notes version, but apparently not. As someone who isn’t well read in English lit,  I didn’t have high hopes to understand this play when  James and I bought standing room tix for the showing at the Globe Theatre. I was thinking more with the tourist mindset of, “how cool to see a play at the Globe Theatre.” End of thought. That idea, coupled with the fact that we would be standing throughout the duration of this play sorta led me to believe we wouldn’t last long past the first act. I couldn’t have been more wrong (there is a first time for everything.)

Not only did we stay and stand for the whole thing, but we understood and dare I say enjoyed the play. There were elements of comedy along with the expected themes of love, betrayal, honor and and revenge. The actors were great and kept me engaged. James and I both agreed that because we had to focus on paying attention to what was going on and what they were saying, it distracted us from the ache in our legs and lower back (or at least the impending ache in our legs and lower back!)

At the intermission, we looked at each other and raised an eyebrow to question if the other person wanted to stay (while we each secretly wanted to.) Luckily we were both in agreement and 3 hours (!) later, we walked out with smiles on our faces, thinking that was a very well spent 5 quid.
